Jacobs Ladder Comparisons - Which is Right for Me?

The Jacobs Ladder has been a mainstay in the commercial gym settings for over 20 years, and you've decided that you want one.

After reading this quick article, you'll be more mindful of the differences between the Jacobs Ladder vs the Jacobs Ladder 2 (aka JL2) to help with your research.

We even have occasional notes on the latest addition to the Jacobs Ladder family, the Jacobs Ladder X.

The Jacobs Ladder vs the Jacobs Ladder 2, What's the Difference?

Size Difference

The JL2 is a more compact, home-gym version of the original Jacobs Ladder treadmill-style ladder climber.

While the height and length of both the Jacobs Ladder and the JL2 are the same, the width is where the difference is. The original Jacobs Ladder is wider at 31.25" while the JL2 model comes in at 27.25".

This allows the JL2 to fit through interior door frames and smaller fitness studio spaces that you can expect inside a standard homes or offices.

The third model, the JLX is the biggest overall.  It's taller, wider, and longer than the original Jacobs Ladder.  Check out the Spec Sheet below for the details.

Power Requirements

The Jacobs Ladder are self-powered exercise machines. To operate and workout on the machines, the user climbs on the machine to control and brake with the use of a waistbelt.

The display console itself will require a charge.

Both the Jacobs Ladder and JLX machines can charge the console display with a simple battery charged as needed. This allows both Jacobs Ladder and JLX to operate free from cords and electrical outlets so you can place it anywhere needed.

However, the JL2 requires a 110V standard outlet (220V is available upon request) to power the console display during any workout session.

Jacobs Ladder Rungs - Material

The Jacobs Ladder has solid maple wooden rungs while the JL2 features 2" steel tube rungs with polyurethane sleeves. The JLX (not pictured) has solid maple rungs with a clear acrylic coating.

Pricing

The Jacobs Ladder is $4,695, while the JL2 is $3,495.

Whether you have commercial gym or a home gym, both the Jacobs Ladder and the JL2 are interchangable.  Depending on the user's needs, such as budget or size differences, and the benefits you're looking for (see benefits), this will help you make the choice that's best for you.

And if you just want the best, with the best new features, consider the Jacobs Ladder X at $4,995.

Jacobs Ladder vs JL2 Warranty

The last difference between the two Jacobs Ladder cardio machines is the warranty. The Jacobs Ladder 2 has the warranty of 2-years on all parts.

While the Original model has a 4-year warranty on all parts, 1 year on labor.  This warranty has a lot of value if your usage is more geared towards commercial or heavy usage.
